Andrew and I feel S.E.L.F Ministry has been invaluable to our marriage. We spent an entire year preparing for marriage with their biblical coaching. We covered so many areas which have equipped us with tools for our journey .

We’ve grown to understand the importance of Christ in our lives and marriage. We learn that in loving each other the right way, we must grow in our love with Christ.

We are strengthened weekly as we join the ministries prayer call. There is a lesson shared, individual’s pray for others, songs are sung, and we are reminded constantly about Gods love when the invitation to receive Christ is given.

Kathy and I came in contact at first with the ministries conference “A Real Man Loves His Wife.” What I am learning as a husband, is that God’s impact in my marriage allows me opportunity to begin my personal process of understanding exactly what it means to be a husband according to God’s design.

S.E.L.F. Ministries was invaluable helping me and my wife to grow in respect to each other’s values in understanding what God’s expectation is for us. We are learning to understand God’s principals for our relationship and in raising our children.

We have benefited richly from their coaching the last three years. Their leadership and spiritual guidance that S.E.L.F. Ministries offers is priceless to us. We would encourage anyone who is married, or planning to, consider being a part of this wonderful ministry.

Atiya and I were both raised in the same church. When I first saw her in elementary school, I said she was going to be my wife. Since then we had a small personal wedding in her parents’ home.

Michael and I are strong and stubborn in very different ways. In the first year of our marriage we were having some very serious difficulties at the time. While I was working in Florida, I began to fast and pray for myself, Michael and our marriage. What God began showing me were things about myself. What I am learning is to take more of myself out of this, and let God do with us what He likes.

As a couple the ministry keeps us anchored, grounded, and provides the opportunity to not just work for ourselves, but in helping others. We get tremendous joy using our gifts in this work to be a blessing to other people, and this makes us feel very good about ourselves, and keeps us centered in God.

Reverend and Sister Black watched me and Kendra grow up as children in our church. When Kendra and I decided we were going to get married and who we would ask to mentor and guide us, my wife said the Blacks. We understood their marriage was not perfect, but we remembered God’s life in them as a couple and family.

Kendra and I come from two different backgrounds. Her parents are still married and supported our choice of the Black’s for our coaching. My mother was a single mother and she raised my sister and me with values to trust God.

We were in our pre-marital coaching for nearly one year. The coaching was so thorough that I recorded, and Kendra took notes many of the sessions, because there was so much good information for Kendra and I to refer back to.

Recently, we went to their conference “A Real Man Loves His Wife” and invited Kendra’s parents. They’ve been married for nearly thirty plus years. They along with Kendra and I were excited about what we heard, what we learned, and what we saw. My in-laws even with their marriage experience, want to participate in more of what this exciting ministry is doing. Nicole and I felt the need for pre – marital counseling, this came from our Pastor. We both came from broken families, so it was important for us to learn how to apply God’s Word to our married life. It was important for us to learn and practice how these roles were to work.

Fred is our strength spiritually, he leads our family in faith. One of the things I have learned, that when things are not going right with us and I need to say something to Fred, I’ve learned to take a moment of pause. God helps me remember who my husband is to me and what God expects from me. These things I do and more before I speak to him. When I do so It usually works most times. I remember the bible says “be angry but sin not.”

We both work and cooperate with our finances for our family. There are times though, when Fred may want to do something, he listens to my advice openly and willfully before we commit with our decisions. These and more things we’ve learned and continue to practice in our marriage of 23 years.
